Giant Mushroom – South Australia

Phlebopus marginatus is thought to be Australia’s largest terrestrial mushroom.

This one (which looked a lot like a giant tortoise) came up alongside a patch of mallee scrub on Southern Eyre Peninsula and is even larger than the one that came up in the same location last winter. Apparently some specimens have been recorded as weighing in at over 32kg!
